Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Agadir – Taliouine – Foum Zguid – Erg ChigagaPick-up at your hotel in Agadir and departure by private 4x4 through the saffron region of Taliouine. After Foum Zguid the tarmac ends and the tracks lead across the dry Iriki lake to the great dunes of Erg Chigaga. Dinner, music and night in a fixed camp with electricity and bathrooms.
  2. Day 2: Erg Chigaga – M'Hamid – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)Sunrise over the dunes, then a 4x4 drive east via M'Hamid El Ghizlane and the Draa Valley to Merzouga. Optional camel ride at sunset on the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Dinner and overnight at a desert camp.
  3. Day 3: Merzouga – Alnif – Tinghir – Dades GorgesLeave the dunes for the fossil-rich area of Alnif and the oasis of Tinghir. Continue to the Dades Gorges and settle into a traditional guesthouse for dinner and the night.
  4. Day 4: Dades Gorges – Anti-Atlas – AgadirReturn towards the Atlantic coast across the High Atlas and Anti-Atlas landscapes, with stops for photos and lunch on the way. Drop-off at your hotel in Agadir in the evening.

How long are the drives each day?

This is a big loop, so expect several hours of driving each day, broken up by stops for photos, lunch and visits. The 4x4 and the tracks between Foum Zguid and M'Hamid are part of the adventure.

What kind of camp is used at Erg Chigaga?

A fixed camp at the foot of the dunes with equipped tents, electricity and shared bathrooms, plus dinner and a musical evening around the fire.

Can I ride a camel on this tour?

Yes, an optional camel ride is offered at sunset on the dunes of Erg Chebbi near Merzouga.

Is this a private tour?

Yes. All our departures are private, in small groups of 1 to 8 people, with your own vehicle, driver and local guide. Dates are flexible and the programme can be adapted to your group.

What should I pack?

Light, breathable clothes for the day and a few warm layers for the evening, comfortable closed shoes, a hat, sunglasses and sun cream. Blankets are provided, but bring a sleeping bag if you have one for extra comfort.

Sunset on the great dune, dinner and music around the fire, and the sunrise before driving back.
