Imnane Valley 3-Day Trek: Easy High Atlas Hike from Marrakech to Imlil

The ideal first trek in the High Atlas. From Marrakech you reach Imi Ouglad and walk village to village through walnut and cherry orchards, terraced fields and the Imnane Valley, ending in Imlil at the foot of Toubkal. A local mountain guide leads the way, mules carry your main luggage and both nights are spent in traditional gîtes at Imesker and Ounskera.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Marrakech – Imi Ouglad – ImeskerMorning departure from Marrakech and transfer to Imi Ouglad, where you meet the guide and muleteers. Walk through fields and walnut and cherry orchards to the village of Imesker. Dinner and first night in a gîte. About 2 hours of walking.
  2. Day 2: Imesker – Imnane Valley – OunskeraAfter breakfast, hike into the Imnane Valley on mountain paths between terraced crops and traditional villages to Ounskera. Dinner and night in a village gîte. About 5 hours of walking.
  3. Day 3: Ounskera – Tizi n'Tamatert – Imlil – MarrakechLast day of walking towards Imlil via the Tizi n'Tamatert area, then descend to Imlil where your vehicle waits for the drive back to Marrakech. About 5 hours of walking.

Yes, it is one of our most accessible mountain itineraries. You should still be comfortable with several hours of walking on days two and three.

Do I have to carry my luggage?

No. Mules carry the main bags; you walk with a small daypack with what you need for the day.

Where do we sleep?

Both nights are in mountain gîtes, at Imesker and then Ounskera.
